It's Eye-catching
From One Photograph to a Thousand Moments of Meaning
Hi, I’m Conar Moorey, founder of Galax Eye. I’d like to tell you how this all began.
Like many photographers, I discovered my passion behind the lens from an early age. I was drawn to the way a photo could freeze time, hold emotion, and tell a story without saying a word. Over the years, I explored all kinds of photography. Landscapes, portraits, street scenes. Each one taught me something, but I was still searching for something deeper. Something that felt truly personal.
I had no idea I would find it by accident.

The Unexpected Beginning
While travelling through New Zealand, I was on a bus tour with friends and playing around with a macro lens. Just for fun, I took a close-up shot of my friend’s eye. It was never meant to be anything special.
But when I zoomed in later, everything changed. The colors, the textures, and the patterns inside the iris looked like a galaxy. It didn’t even feel like I was looking at an eye. It felt like I had discovered a whole new world. It was raw and beautiful and completely unique.
That one image lit a spark in me that I could not ignore.
Turning a Moment into a Mission
Back home, I began experimenting. I tested different cameras, lighting setups, editing techniques, and print formats. I wanted to create something that felt real. Something that kept that same magic I saw in New Zealand. It took time, but eventually, it became clear that this was more than just photography.
Galax Eye was born out of that obsession. A way to help people see themselves and the people they love in an entirely new light.
Every iris I capture still feels like a discovery. Some are bright and electric. Others feel deep and calm. Some are full of mystery. Some are full of fire. Each one tells a story. And no two are ever the same.
Why We Work Face to Face
We don’t use uploaded photos. Every piece we create begins with a real person in front of the lens. That is because this is not just a product. It is a shared experience.
When you sit down in the studio or visit us at an event, you are not just getting a photo. You are being seen in a way that is completely unique to you. Most people have never looked at their own iris up close. It often becomes an emotional moment.
And yes, we are more than happy to photograph pets as well. Dogs, cats, and other companions are welcome. We do our best to capture them just as we do with people, although results can depend on the animal’s cooperation.
Where We Are Today
Galax Eye is now based full-time in Whitstable, Kent. You can also find us at major events and markets across the UK, including Winter Wonderland and Comic Con, among many others.
We have photographed thousands of eyes. Each one has been personal. Each one has meant something. Some are gifts between partners. Some are keepsakes for families. Some are memorials for those who are no longer here. Others are simply a way to celebrate your own story.

A Note from Me
This was never just about photography. It was never about building a business or selling a product. It started with one image. One person. One connection. And since then, it has grown into something I truly love doing.
If you are thinking about creating your own piece, I want to thank you. Whether it is for yourself, a loved one, or someone you miss, I would be honored to help bring it to life.
